The State Patrol reports that a Chagrin Falls woman was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash on January 21st in Geauga County. Courtney McIvor, 50, of Chagrin Falls was heading southbound on Auburn Rd. when her vehicle was struck head-on by a cargo van. Qasim Shakoor, 49, of Kent was operating the van northbound on Auburn Rd., when he drove the vehicle left of the center striking the McIvor vehicle. The Shakoor vehicle was registered to the American Red Cross.
McIvor was transported by Newbury Fire/Rescue to UH Geauga Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. Shakoor suffered possible injury and was treated at the scene by EMS and was cited by the Patrol.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, there were 1,862,225 motor vehicle crashes in Ohio in 2023. The Patrol also reports that 6,150 people suffered serious injury due to crashes on Ohio roadways in 2023. The Patrol defines serious injury as an injury that requires medical attention and or hospitalization.
