The Ohio State Patrol is reporting that a Jacobsburg man was seriously injured in Belmont County Crash on February 1st. Douglas Eddy, 69, of Jacobsburg was travelling eastbound on SR 147 when he was struck head-on by westbound vehicle that crossed the center line. Dianna Brown, 37, of Bridgeport was the operator of the westbound vehicle.
Eddy was transported by EMS to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment of serious injury. Brown was transported by EMS to Wheeling Medical Park for treatment of minor injury.
Passengers in the vehicles, Pokkai Eddy, 74, of Jacobsburg and Leticia Thompson, 46, of Powhatan Point were taken by EMS to Wheeling Medical Park for treatment of minor injuries.
The Patrol reports that the collision was caused by Brown operating her vehicle left of center. Alcohol use is not suspected in the crash.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, there were 1,862,225 motor vehicle crashes in Ohio in 2023. The Patrol also reports that 6,150 people suffered serious injury due to crashes on Ohio roadways in 2023. The Patrol defines serious injury as an injury that requires medical attention and or hospitalization.
