The Miami County Sheriff reports that a Pleasant Hill Couple were injured in a January 17th crash on State Route 718. Lori Matthews, 44, of Pleasant Hill was driving west on SR 718 when her vehicle was struck broadside by a pick-up truck. Christopher Spencer, 58, of Newton Township was travelling southbound in the truck when he ran a stop sign and struck the Mathews vehicle.
Ms. Mathews was transported by EMS to UVMC for treatment of serious injuries. Passenger in her vehicle, Chase Mathews, 42, Dean Mathews, 11 and Lila Mathews, 8, sustained suspected minor injury and were treated at the scene. Spencer was not injured in the crash.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, there were 1,862,225 motor vehicle crashes in Ohio in 2023. The Patrol also reports that 6,150 people suffered serious injury due to crashes on Ohio roadways in 2023. The Patrol defines serious injury as an injury that requires medical attention and or hospitalization.
