The Seneca County Sheriff’s Dept. reports that a Tiffin teenager was seriously injured in a January 6th crash in Seneca County. Larissa Leeth, 16, of Tiffin was a passenger in a vehicle being operated in a northbound direction on County Road 33. The driver of the vehicle, Zayden Hites-Johnson, 16, of Tiffin, lost control of the vehicle, and drove off the roadway into a ditch, striking a utility pole. Hites-Johnson was cited for failure to control.
Leeth was transported by EMS to Tiffin Mercy Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Hites-Johnson sustained suspected minor injury and was treated at the scene.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, there were 1,862,225 motor vehicle crashes in Ohio in 2023. The Patrol also reports that 6,150 people suffered serious injury due to crashes on Ohio roadways in 2023. The Patrol defines serious injury as an injury that requires medical attention and or hospitalization.
