The Perry Township Police Dept. reports that Jesse Adelman, 27, of Canton was seriously injured in a Stark County crash on January 11th. Adelman was a passenger in a vehicle being operated by Tyler Heath, 27, of Massillon. Heath was headed eastbound of Navarre Rd. SW when he was struck by a pick-up truck headed south on Genoa Ave. SW. The truck was being operated by Benjamin Hughes, 41, of Massillon. The police report that Hughes ran a stop sign and was intoxicated at the time of the wreck.
Adleman was transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment of serious injury. Heath, Hughes and Liam Hughes, 7, of Massillon were transported to Aultman Hospital with minor injuries.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, there were 1,862,225 motor vehicle crashes in Ohio in 2023. The Patrol also reports that 6,150 people suffered serious injury due to crashes on Ohio roadways in 2023. The Patrol defines serious injury as an injury that requires medical attention and or hospitalization.
