The Summit County Sheriff’s Office reports that Matthew Snider, 21, of Mayfield Heights was seriously injured in motor vehicle incident on January 2nd.in Summit County. Snider was a pedestrian on Highland Rd. attempting to attach a trailer to his vehicle when it was struck by a pick-up truck headed west on Highland Rd. The truck was being operated by Chase Foos, 23, of Attica Ohio. The police report that Foos failed to keep an assured clear distance ahead.
Snider was transported to Hillcrest Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Foos was not injured in the collision.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, there were 1,862,225 motor vehicle crashes in Ohio in 2023. The Patrol also reports that 6,150 people suffered serious injury due to crashes on Ohio roadways in 2023. The Patrol defines serious injury as an injury that requires medical attention and or hospitalization.
