The Springfield Police report that a Springfield woman was seriously injured in a February 5th crash in Clark County. Linda Malone, 62, of Springfield was travelling westbound on Diebert Ave., when her vehicle was struck by a northbound vehicle entering the intersection from S. Western Ave. Robert Huffman, 31, of Springfield was and was cited for stop sign violation and the Police report that Huffman may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.
Ms. Malone was transported by EMS to SMRC for treatment of serious injuries. Mr. Huffman was taken to SMRC for treatment of minor injury.
According to the Ohio State Patrol, since 2020 there have been over 61 thousand OMVI crashes, approximately 3,400 fatalities and over 81 thousand arrests. A large percentage of state wide fatalities involved alcohol use. Hamilton, Franklin and Cuyahoga Counties have experienced the most crashes during that time period and account for almost a third of all OMVI crashes.
