The State Patrol reports that a Garrettsville woman was seriously injured in a February 6th crash in Portage County. Pamela Wenger, 64, of Garrettsville was a passenger in a vehicle being operated in a westbound direction on SR 82. The driver, Darla McCauslin, 65, of Garrettsville drove her vehicle left of center and struck an eastbound direction head on. Timothy Burcham, 35, of Windham was operating the eastbound vehicle. According to the Patrol, McCauslin was guilty of left of center. Alcohol use is not suspected in the crash.
Ms. Wenger and Ms. McCauslin were transported by Garrettsville EMS to UH Portage Medical for treatment of serious injury. Mr. Burcham was treated at the scene for minor injury.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, there were 1,862,225 motor vehicle crashes in Ohio in 2023. The Patrol also reports that 6,150 people suffered serious injury due to crashes on Ohio roadways in 2023. The Patrol defines serious injury as an injury that requires medical attention and or hospitalization.
