The State Patrol reports that a Marysville woman was killed in a January 31st accident in Fairfield County. Bryanna Cox, 33, of Marysville was driving her vehicle in an eastbound direction on US 33 when she collided with a garbage truck. The truck was being operated northbound on Thorn Lane when the driver attempted to turn west onto US 33. The garbage truck was operated by Demetr Gilmore, 30, of Columbus and owned by Local Waste Services of Columbus.
The Patrol reports that Gilmore failed to yield in causing the collision. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, there were 1,862,225 motor vehicle crashes in Ohio in 2023 resulting in 1,242 fatalities. Over half of the fatal collisions involved impaired driving. Speed was the second leading cause of fatal crashes, which contributed to 29% of all fatalities.
