HURON PEDESTRIAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN ERIE COUNTY HIT AND RUN CRASH

The Huron Police Dept. reports that a Huron woman was seriously injured in an Erie County accident on January 24th. Amanda Harkelroad 47, of Huron was leaning into a car that was legally parked on Center St. when the vehicle was struck by a southbound cargo van. The driver of the van was Brian Brown, 58 of Vermillion. He was cited for driving on the right side of the road.

Harkelroad suffered head injuries and was transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injury.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, there were 1,862,225 motor vehicle crashes in Ohio in 2023. The Patrol also reports that 6,150 people suffered serious injury due to crashes on Ohio roadways in 2023. The Patrol defines serious injury as an injury that requires medical attention and or hospitalization.
