The Englewood Police Dept. reports that a Dayton woman suffered serious injuries in a motor vehicle crash in Montgomery County on January 27. Essence Lee, 24, of Dayton was travelling north on SR 48 when a southbound vehicle on SR 48 turned left and struck Lee’s vehicle. Lee, and her passenger David Benson, 22, of Dayton were transported by EMS to Miami Valley Hospital. Lee sustained serious injury and Benson suffered suspected minor injury.
The driver of the southbound vehicle, Oscar Hernandez, 19, of Dayton was not injured in the crash. He was cited by the police for failure to yield on a left hand turn.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, there were 1,862,225 motor vehicle crashes in Ohio in 2023. The Patrol also reports that 6,150 people suffered serious injury due to crashes on Ohio roadways in 2023. The Patrol defines serious injury as an injury that requires medical attention and or hospitalization.
